On 28 September this year, in the conference room of the AC SA Research and Development Centre, a seminar took place on effective alternative engine power systems and electronic systems in motor vehicles. The seminar was attended by representatives of the local media. The event brought together company representatives and members of the most senior academic staff of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Białystok University of Technology, along with tutors of research clubs specialising in these fields.
The guests were welcomed by Katarzyna Rutkowska, President of the Management Board at AC SA, Marian R. Dubowski, Ph.D. Eng., Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Prof. Franciszek Siemieniako, Ph. Eng. Following this, Wojciech Piekarski, Marketing Director at AC SA, presented the history of the company and its path to becoming a leader in the Polish market and an important global exporter of automotive LPG/CNG. Tomasz Cybulko, Technical and Development Manager, described to the participants the importance of the recently-opened Research and Development Centre for new power technologies for motor vehicles, which was built as part of a project funded by the Innovative Economy Operational Programme 2007-12. Since February 2012, the centre has been working on the development of AC SA-manufactured products. Later speeches were delivered by guests: W. Wojtkowski, Ph.D. Eng., spoke on serial buses for data transmission in cars, Andrzej Borawski on modelling and simulation of gas injectors and Maciej Zajkowski, Ph.D. Eng., on car lights using LEDs.
Before the discussion was officially summarised, a visit was conducted to the flagship facility of the Research and Development Centre, namely the company laboratory. All were impressed by the modern measurement and control instruments used in testing the properties of controllers, including their resistance to moisture, vibration and rapid changes in temperature.
Upon returning to the conference room, a discussion was begun on strengthening collaboration between AC SA and the largest university of technology in the region. Establishing bilateral relations and developing prospective long-term projects and research in the field of alternative power, as well as other projects in the automotive sector, has always been a special priority in the activities of the company. Exchange of know-how and experience between AC SA and the University of Technology is an opportunity for both the students and the company. This will surely bear fruit in many valuable initiatives in the future.
